1 May, 2016

SFU, Laval and UMontréal confirm their 2016 Schulich Leaders!

Jennifer Yi from Surrey, BC’s Pacific Academy will begin her science pursuits at Simon Fraser University this Fall. Joining her as the engineering recipient at SFU is Seycove Secondary’s Scott Bernard. This is the first time each school has produced winning recipients in our program to date, congratulations!

Laval University also welcomed two new Schulich Leaders: Camille Comtois from Cégep régional de Lanaudière in L’Assomption, QC, pursuing a Bachelor of Science, specifically nursing, starting this Fall. Michelle Janusz from Earl Marriott Secondary School in Surrey, BC is their Engineering recipient. These two students also hail from schools that had not produced Schulich Leaders until this year! Cégep régional de Lanaudière participated in the program for the first time to date.

The Université de Montréal’s science-based recipient was selected from first-time participating school, Cégep de La Pocatière in La Pocatière, QC: Pierre-Antoine Bernard. Joining him is engineering recipient Félix Desrochers from College de Maisonneuve in Montreal, QC. Desrochers isn’t the first student to win from College de Maisonneuve. In 2012, Sacha Lajoie won the award to study at Laval; and in 2014, Laurence Poirier-Blanchette was selected by UMontréal from this Cégep.

Congratulations to these exceptional STEM scholars on achieving this life-changing accomplishment!
