Who Is Eligible?

Canadian Schulich Leader Nominees are selected by their high schools, secondary schools and Cégeps (in Quebec)* from graduating students who are intending to study STEM subjects at a participating university.

The student must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, be attending a Canadian high school, secondary school or Cégep (in Quebec) and possess at least two of the three following attributes:

  1. Outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership

  2. Academic excellence

  3. Financial need* 

Schulich Leader Scholarship recipients (Schulich Leaders) are selected by the participating universities in the program. In order to become a Schulich Leader, one must be a Schulich Leader Nominee enrolling in a STEM faculty at a minimum of one of 20 select Canadian universities participating in Schulich Leader Scholarships.
 

*Quebec students must be attending their final year of study at a Cégep in order to become a Schulich Leader Nominee and Schulich Leader (Quebec-based high school graduating students are not eligible to become Schulich Leader Nominees)

*Students planning to apply for financial assistance for undergraduate study at university would meet the criterion of “Financial Need”

Designated Canadian Universities 2013

McMaster University is one of the 20 participating university partners of the 2013 Schulich Leader Scholarship. The universities are responsible for selecting the Schulich Leaders for their respective institution.
