What is your favourite inspirational quote?

“Our lives begin to end the day we are silent about things that matter” – Martin Luther King Jr.

What is a little known fact about you?

As I’ve been playing classical piano for 13 years, people are surprised to learn that I love 70s – 80s hard rock music.

Why do you make a great Schulich Leader?

My use of imagination to engage people in causes that I am passionate about is what I believe makes my leadership style unique. I have led campaigns for social justice centred upon creative initiatives such as a blindfolded art contest, photography exhibition and a children’s storybook. I feel that art has a wonderful ability to resonate with people from different backgrounds, and I seek to use it to overcome the challenge of creating a sense of personal identification with issues some of us may otherwise feel distant from. As I leader, I understand the importance of identifying common ground and forging bonds at the level of intuition and feeling before meaningful collective action can occur for a cause.
